Haydenville Congregational Church
November 30, 2008 "Blue Moon Sunday"
It is time again for our "Blue Moon Sunday" program. Whenever a month has a fifth Sunday, we will NOT hold our usual Coffee Hour, instead groups of church members and friends will do community service projects together! Projects last about one hour. Bring a bag lunch to church if you like. Most service projects leave from the back church parking lot 15 minutes after our worship service ends.) Cars caravan together to the different sites--follow your team leaders.
Garden Party II!!
Team Leaders: JackieCloonan and Monica Messenger
Join with other church members to help Ann Podolske and Linda Small at their home in Northampton with leaf raking and cleanup. Our church helped them in the summer to beautify their back yard, so let's continue the beautification process! (An added bonus is that food will be provided--just bring your favorite drink.)
Pioneer Valley Habitat for Humanity House Build
Leaders: Lynn Fogg & Mary Sheehan
Join Lynn and Mary at Habitat for Humanity's Amherst building site to assist in a variety of activities from dry-walling, mudding, taping, and possibly painting. Please dress accordingly. No experience is needed--we will be instructed onsite.
Habitat expects us to make a 12Noon to 4PM time commitment, so please consider this when signing up. Project limited to 10 people - please see Lynn or Mary to sign up.
Bingo at the Northampton Veterans Hospital
Team Leaders: Kris Pollard and Dawn Orluske
Kris and Dawn will lead the residents at the VA hospital in Bingo! This Blue Moon Sunday project was a big hit with the Veterans when we did it back in August - so come and join in on the fun!
The House of Hope
Team Leaders: Andrea Ayvazian, Paula & Richard Spencer
Help Church member Hope Solanis get settled in her new home in Laurel Park in Northampton. This project will include scrubbing the walls in her home to take away the odor of fragrances left by the past owner. Hope needs our help in this because she has a chemical sensitivity and cannot tackle this project alone. Wear old clothes!
Evening Vespers at Rockridge Retirement Community
Team Leaders: Donique McIntosh and Annie Turner
We will be offering a 7:00PM Worship Service for the residents of this retirement community. Please join Team Leaders Donique and Annie for this lovely 30 minutes Service.
Visit Linda Manor in Haydenville
Team Leaders: Matilda Cantwell, Margaret Chappuis, and Toby Davis
Children and families are invited to visit Linda Manor and bring cupcakes to residents there. Join Margaret, Matilda and Toby as they walk the halls with trays of cupcakes, maybe singing a song or two, and bringing some holiday cheer to the residents and staff at Linda Manor!
