Why should I donate to the HCC campaign?

  • Historical landmark – Constructed in 1851, the Haydenville Congregational Church serves as the most recognizable building and anchor church of the community of Haydenville. Not only is the Church situated immediately next to the town hall, its steeple houses the official Town clock, for which one of our parishioners receives a symbolic payment to keep wound.
  • Vibrant, growing community - “Phoenix from the Ashes”: From a stalwart group of 15 loyal parishioners in 2005, the HCC under the leadership of Rev. Andrea Ayvazian, has grown to over 160 strong and active members and friends supporting a growing children’s church as well.
  • Active, inclusive community voice for social justice – Whether demonstrating against hate speech, raucously singing and marching in support of the inclusiveness of all of God’s children, or serving the less fortunate in gift, service, and prayer, the HCC speaks out and follows up in deeds the credo we live in spirit.

How can I donate?

  • Click the Donate Button to give via secure online credit card transaction. We accept MasterCard, Visa, and Discover.

  • Send checks payable to Haydenville Congregational Church to 143 Main St, P.O. Box 257, Haydenville MA 01039.

How much should I donate?

  • Especially in these difficult economic times, no amount could be too little or too great. Each donation, regardless of amount, will be cherished and appreciated equally for the kindness, generosity, and love the donor has demonstrated through the act of giving. That being said, contractors need to be paid for their work, materials purchased, and funds made available to our outreach work in service to those less fortunate. We don’t ask you to “give until it hurts” but rather “give until it feels good;” for we believe that generosity represents one of the basic tenets of our faith and we hope will you feel uplifted, knowing that you have supported a community dedicated to the care and service of others.

How will my donation be used?

  • Protection: While the painting of the exterior of the church will indeed enhance its beauty as a community landmark, it more importantly will protect this beloved old edifice from further damage through wind and weather.
  • Restoration and Conservation:  Several of the tall windows that have graced the church since it was built, must be repaired.  This restoration work will not only maintain the historical appearance of the church but conserve energy as well.
  • Strength and Safety: Determinations must be made regarding roof repair/replacement to protect the sanctuary and its congregation.
  • Warmth: New England winters are harsh and although the HCC community is tough, prolonged scarves and mittens services are bad for the long-term care and health of our parishioners and guests. The boiler providing heat to the sanctuary needs replacing.
  • Service: At the heart of the credo of the HCC is service unto others: While we celebrate on Sunday mornings, our service to the local community and beyond runs the entire week. Assisted by the Campaign, the HCC will continue active support without boundaries to those in need.

Who will benefit from my donation?

  • The congregation
  • The local community
  • Local businesses
  • Those in need
  • Those with no church home
  • Those who want to listen; for God is still speaking
